Preferred
Option
We designed and tested various options for the various elements of the scheme. Orientation and scale options were also carefully considered.
The preferred option plan, below, will deliver the following elements:
1 - A new residential access from Town Quay Road. Route softened with landscaping to screen the port beyond.
2 - A central square which includes Harbour House, and Town Quay House, and connects with the marina creating a break along the line of existing buildings.
3 - Main entrance into the marina fronted by Harbour House.
4 - A break in the existing Town Quay buildings to create a defined access point to the marina beyond. To compliment this access point would be a landscaped arrival square.
5 - Quayside boardwalk providing raised and lowered section enabling a range of activities.
6 - A turning circle is still required to navigate the site. Sited in front of the hotel, it will be an area dedicated to linking Red Funnel, the new hotel and those accessing this part of the site on foot or in vehicles.
7 - At the end of the quay will be an area with purpose and function, noting it's location, especially when viewed from passing cruise liners and its exposed nature, receiving sunlight throughout the day.
8 - A series of residential apartments on reclaimed land which gradually rise in height overlooking an extended marina.
